Truecaller and Microsoft Partner to Let Users Create AI Voices for Answering Calls
Truecaller, a company that makes caller ID, will let users make an AI voice that will answer calls.
Some people prefer Truecaller over their phone’s built-in system for finding and blocking spam calls. Folks who use the service’s AI Assistant can now record their own voices. Partnering with Microsoft’s Azure AI Speech, the software will use the recorded clip to make an AI voice that sounds like the user.
In the blog post, Raphael Mimoun, product director and general manager of Truecaller, says, This feature is truly groundbreaking. It not only gives users a sense of familiarity and comfort, but it also shows how AI can change the way we interact with our digital assistants.
The AI Assistant in Truecaller checks incoming calls and tells users who is calling why they are calling. Customers can see why the call is coming in and decide whether to answer the phone themselves or have an assistant do it for them. In 2022, the Assistant was first added to the Truecaller app. It is only available in certain countries.Users have always had a set number of voices they could use, and the company says that letting users record their own voices is another way to make the service even more unique.
Truecaller’s Enhanced Personalization Features
As shown at the Build conference, Azure AI Speech now has a personal voice feature that lets people record and copy their own voices. In a blog post, Microsoft does say that personal voice is available, but only for certain things, like voice assistants. Microsoft says that voices made by Azure AI Speech’s personal voice automatically get watermarks. It also released a code of conduct that said users had to get full permission from people they were recording and couldn’t pretend to be someone else.
