Tom Hanks Warns Against AI Deepfake Ads Misusing
Tom Hanks, 68, warns his fans about ads made by AI that use his likeness without his permission. He urges them to be careful about believing false ads for “miracle cures.”
Tom Hanks, who is 68 years old, has spoken out about the dangers of AI. He has told his fans to be wary of ads that use his picture without his permission. On Instagram, the Oscar-winning actor talked about how worried he was about viral ads for “miracle cures and wonder drugs” that use AI to make fake versions of him.
The star wrote in her message, “There are many ads on the internet that falsely use my name, likeness, and voice to promote miracle cures and wonder drugs.” These ads were made without my permission, dishonestly, and with AI. Hanks made it clear by saying, “I have nothing to do with these posts, the products, the treatments, or the people who are promoting these cures.”
Tom also made it clear that he only worked with his “board-certified doctor” to take care of his type 2 diabetes. He ended by saying, “DO NOT BE FOOLED.” DO NOT GET WRAPPED. Don’t lose the money you’ve worked hard for.
In the past, Hanks has spoken out against the illegal use of his likeness, such as in a fake dental ad that came out last year. He has also talked about the growing use of AI in the entertainment business before, saying that he was worried about what it might mean.
In this regard, the director said on British comedian Adam Buxton’s podcast in May 2023, “We saw this coming.” We were aware that a computer’s zeros and ones could transform into a face and a talking entity. Since then, that number has grown a billion times, and we can see it everywhere.
