TikTok Unveils Custom AI Voiceover Feature for Enhanced User Creativity
TikTok users can now create custom AI voices for their videos and translate them into different languages, thanks to ByteDance’s new AI voice replication technology, which raises concerns about deepfakes.
App researcher Jonah Manzano announced that users of TikTok can now select “Create Your Own AI Voice” from the video voice-over menu in his posts, which also included pictures.
Users can create an AI voice by talking into their device and using it in future clips to reduce voice use. This feature also allows for the translation of the custom voice-over into other languages.
The new idea came from ByteDance‘s work on AI voice replication, which is part of the company’s larger AI projects. Business Insider says that in January, ByteDance created a new AI model that can accurately copy a person’s voice with little input.
People worry that the “StreamVoice” system’s ability to imitate almost any speech in real time could lead to the creation of convincing deepfakes and hoaxes.
Even with these concerns, social media sites like Meta are looking into similar AI voice technologies. For example, Meta lets creators make AI chatbots that have their style and voice.
