SoundHound AI Teams Up with Perplexity to Enhance Voice Assistants for Cars and IoT Devices
Perplexity’s features, when added to SoundHound Chat AI, will enable it to answer questions conversationally, utilizing real-time web knowledge.
SoundHound AI, a world leader in voice AI, announced today that it has teamed up with Perplexity, an answer engine powered by conversational AI. They are going to work together to add Perplexity’s online LLM features to SoundHound Chat AI, which is the best voice assistant and uses hundreds of real-time domains and generative AI responses. This will make SoundHound’s AI product even better than other voice assistants on the market right now.
The SoundHound Chat AI assistant will use Perplexity to give correct, up-to-date answers to web-based questions that static LLMs can’t answer right now. This will allow the assistant to answer more types and more complicated questions.
A person could ask something like, “How is the price of petrol this week different from last week?” and the answer will have correct, up-to-date information on petrol prices as well as a full, generative AI-style explanation that gives more information. If the user then says, “Navigate to the nearest petrol station,” SoundHound’s technology will automatically add data from the right sources and work with the navigation software on a phone or car.
Many years of work in AI, speech recognition, and natural language processing have gone into making SoundHound’s voice AI products. The company’s own technology gives it the fastest and most accurate results in its field. It lets users speak naturally to access a huge range of real-time knowledge domains, such as flight times, sports scores, music selection, restaurant search, generative AI responses (from multiple LLMs), and now Perplexity’s amazing web-search results.
SoundHound Chat AI was the world’s first voice assistant to come out with generative AI. It was also the world’s first voice assistant to be made for cars. Stellantis, an automotive partner, has already put SoundHound Chat AI to use in more than 12 countries and 18 languages.
A specially made arbitration technology is also used by the assistant. It uses a mix of software engineering and machine learning to choose the best response, which helps to reduce harmful “AI hallucinations.”
SoundHound’s Chat AI assistant is now integrated with Perplexity. “This brings us one step closer to our goal of making Perplexity available to everyone on all devices,” said Dmitry Shevelenko, Chief Business Officer at Perplexity AI. “With the growing popularity of voice AI, we’re allowing users to more easily access the information they need, when they need it.”
“By adding Perplexity search to SoundHound Chat AI, we’re raising the bar for voice assistants and the types of questions they can easily answer,” Mike Zagorsek, CEO of SoundHound AI, said. “Where this technology is already used in cars, we’re seeing big changes in how people use them—increasing by multiples.” As more people choose to talk instead of type, we’re sure that this update will make even more users happy.
