Scarlett Johansson’s voice is uncannily similar to ChatGPT’s new voice

The voice assistant in OpenAI‘s new GPT-4o model, Sky, sounded a lot like Scarlett Johansson’s voice from the movie “Her,” which caused Johansson to sue. At first, there were plans to use Johansson’s voice, but she eventually said no, and OpenAI decided not to use Sky’s voice to avoid more problems.

It’s possible that Sam Altman likes the movie “Her” too much. Those who witnessed the launch announcement for his company’s GPT-4o model last week noted that Sky, the voice assistant featured, bore a striking resemblance to Scarlett Johansson.

Are you uncertain about the plot of the Spike Jonze movie from 2013? Johansson voices the AI assistant that Joaquin Phoenix’s character falls in love with.

It wasn’t very good of Altman to try to make the similarities between Sky and Scarlett look like they were just a coincidence. After the product launch announcement, he added the word “her” to X. But on Monday, OpenAI chose not to use Sky’s voice because it would cause trouble.

Then we discovered that OpenAI wasn’t proactive. The story goes on. It turns out that Altman did ask Johansson to be the voice of GPT-4o, and she did think about it. In the end, though, she chose not to play the flirty AI again. As soon as the voice of Sky came out, Johansson hired a lawyer to help him deal with OpenAI.

Johansson reveals Altman’s vision: bridging the gap between tech and creatives

In a statement, Johansson said, “He told me that he thought that by speaking out against the system, I could help bridge the gap between tech companies and creatives and make people feel better about the huge change that is happening between humans and AI.” “He told me that my voice would make people feel better.”

The Sky voice is no longer there, so Johansson got what she wanted. Still, it seems a little strange that Altman tried to make “Her” again. Did we see the same movie?
