Safran Invests €220M to Buy AI Firm Preligens, Enhancing Defense AI

Safran spends €220M to buy the AI company Preligens. Under its Electronics & Defense area, AI will be used to improve defense and aviation AI.

The French company Safran said on Monday that it had agreed to pay 220 million euros ($243.3 million) to buy the AI company Preligens.

The company Preligens, which focusses on AI for defense and aircraft, will now be known as Safran.AI and will be a part of Safran’s Electronics & Defense business area.

Through working together, we’re committed to not only help Preligens improve their AI solutions, but also to find completely new ways to use AI in space, defense, and aviation. In a press statement, Franck Saudo, said.

Safran said that it creates complicated algorithms and software that use commercial and government satellite images to automatically find and identify items of military interest.
