Pixel Phones Launch AI-Enhanced Weather App for Smarter Forecasts
Google’s new Pixel Weather app, which was unveiled at the Made by Google event, includes AI-powered forecasts and customizable displays, making it easier to get personalized weather information on the latest Pixel 9 devices.
While new Pixel devices are being released, the Pixel phone line is also getting an AI-powered weather app. The tech giant briefly showed off the app today at the Made by Google event in Mountain View. Google’s AI model for phones, the Gemini Nano, makes a custom AI weather report for the app.
The tech company said that people will “not have to scroll through a bunch of numbers to get a sense of the day’s weather” with the new app. Users can customize the app to display their preferred weather statistics.
For instance, you can move the UV index tile to a more visible location within the app. The app has a colourful background that changes, an “AI weather report,” daily and hourly forecasts, and all the other features you’d expect from a weather app.
The app became widely known before today’s event. The app showcased features such as movable tiles that displayed air pressure, humidity, wind speed, and other information, but it did not display the 10-day forecast. Google says that all of its new Pixel 9 phones will come with the Pixel Weather app. The Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold are all in this group.
