OpenAI Unveils ‘Tasks’ for ChatGPT to Compete with Siri and Alexa
OpenAI has launched a new feature called ‘Tasks’ in ChatGPT, which acts like a virtual assistant. It will compete with Siri and Alexa by providing better support for users.
OpenAI has introduced a new beta feature called ‘Tasks’ in ChatGPT, marking its move into the virtual assistant market. This development places the company in direct competition with established virtual assistants such as Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa. The feature expands ChatGPT’s functionality, giving users more assistant-like capabilities.
ChatGPT’s new ‘Tasks’ feature enables users to schedule future actions. This includes both one-time reminders, such as upcoming concert ticket sales, and recurring tasks, like weekly news updates or daily weather reports.
Once scheduled, ChatGPT will automatically execute actions planned at the specified times, streamlining the process of managing reminders and daily tasks for users. The feature aims to enhance ChatGPT’s versatility in managing daily tasks and reminders.

To use the new ‘Tasks’ feature, users should choose “GPT-4 with scheduled tasks” from the model options, then set the task and its time. Platforms can create tasks, but only the web version, with its dedicated ‘Tasks’ section in the profile menu, can manage them.
These tasks generate notifications on the web, desktop, and mobile. Furthermore, ChatGPT will suggest tasks based on user interactions, allowing users to accept or decline them based on their personal preferences.
OpenAI has announced that it will begin releasing the beta version of its new feature to Plus, Team, and Pro users worldwide in the coming days, starting with the web platform.
