OpenAI Supports Teachers with Free Training on AI & ChatGPT Use
OpenAI and Common Sense Media are giving teachers free training in AI. This promotes the use of ChatGPT in schools and addresses concerns about responsible AI use.
Together with Common Sense Media, OpenAI has made a free training course for teachers that aims to help them understand AI and get students interested in engineering.
The course equips teachers with the necessary skills to effectively utilize ChatGPT in the classroom, including lesson planning and simplifying administrative tasks.
OpenAI is putting in more work to promote the beneficial educational uses of ChatGPT, which became very popular after it came out in November 2022. It is known that the tool could help students, but its use has also raised concerns about cheating and plagiarism.
As someone who used to work for Coursera and is now in charge of OpenAI’s education efforts, Leah Belsky stressed how important it is to teach both students and teachers how to use AI responsibly.
Belsky said that many students are using ChatGPT and that many parents think that their kids need to learn about AI to have successful careers in the future. The training is on the website for Common Sense Media. First of many projects the two groups will collaborate on.
