OpenAI Unveils Full o1 Model with Image Analysis and Premium ChatGPT Pro Plan
OpenAI has officially released its advanced o1 model, which adds strong reasoning and image-analysis skills to ChatGPT.
The o1 model was first demonstrated in a preview format earlier this year. This feature is now a built-in feature of ChatGPT and can be accessed by all ChatGPT Plus and Team users globally. This means that AI can be used in new ways because it is capable of analyzing uploaded pictures. For example, it can help users learn how to build a home by providing a picture with details on how it can be done.
AI has made a huge step forward with faster reactions, accuracy, and ability to handle difficult reasoning tasks. Next week, OpenAI wants to let Enterprise and Education users use o1.
Debuting ChatGPT Pro for Professionals
As they released the o1 model, OpenAI also introduced a new level of subscription called ChatGPT Pro, which costs $200 monthly. This premium plan is designed for businesses and workers and includes:
- Unlimited access to OpenAI’s cutting-edge tools.
- Exclusive versions of o1 with enhanced computing capabilities.
- GPT-4o for superior natural language generation.
- Advanced Voice features for speech-based tasks.
It’s meant to meet the wants of users who need it a lot in business, engineering, research, and other fields.
During a live stream on December 5, 2024, as part of OpenAI’s “12 Days of OpenAI” Christmas series, co-founder and CEO Sam Altman talked about these changes.
Why the o1 Model Stands Out
The first generation of the o1 model series released in September 2024 is designed to solve problems in the real world through mathematical computation, logical reasoning, and computer programming.
The upgraded o1 delivers:
- 34% fewer major errors on complex problems compared to its preview version.
- Robust image-analysis features ideal for fields like healthcare and engineering.
- Faster performance and enhanced safety, scoring 84 on rigorous safety benchmarks.
It is worth noting that o1 solved 83% of the problems on the International Mathematics Olympiad qualifying test, which is a huge improvement over GPT-4o’s 13% success rate.
OpenAI plans to broaden o1’s functionality with:
- Web browsing.
- File upload support.
- Advanced API integrations for structured outputs and function calling.
OpenAI ‘s researcher Noam Brown also shared on X (previously Twitter) that o1, previously known as ‘Strawberry’, is designed for creative and analytical work. He also demonstrated how it can write essays with certain rules such as rules found in particular subject areas.
When o1 model and ChatGPT Pro were launched, Alibaba and DeepSeek launched new competing models simultaneously. It has also resulted in more competitors, yet OpenAI is continuously introducing creations that demonstrate the potential of turning society upside down through artificial intelligence.
OpenAI started the ChatGPT Pro Grant Program to get more people to use it in important areas. The program gives 10 top medical researchers free access to the Pro plan.
While OpenAI improves its products, the o1 model and ChatGPT Pro become the best AI tools ever. If they can keep up with the competition, these updates could help OpenAI’s standing in the market.
