OpenAI CFO Predicts Trump May Lead the Next Revolution in AI Development

Sarah Friar, Chief Financial Officer of OpenAI, thinks President-elect Donald Trump could become “the president of this AI generation.” We are now at a turning point in the history of artificial general intelligence (AGI).

Friar said at the Reuters NEXT conference in New York that Trump will be in office when important AGI infrastructure starts to take shape, like self-driving systems. Even though Elon Musk publicly opposed OpenAI’s plans to restructure its business, Friar was sure that Musk, who is close to Trump, would put national interests first in his competitive efforts.

Friar also talked about OpenAI’s recent progress, such as the release of its video-making tool, Sora, which has been in high demand. The company has halted the creation of new accounts, but Friar emphasized that they are taking extra precautions to ensure everyone’s safety.
