Nvidia Joins G42 in Pioneering Climate Tech Lab for AI Solutions

G42 and Nvidia have joined forces to build a climate tech lab in Abu Dhabi. The lab will focus on using Nvidia’s Earth-2 platform to make AI-driven weather predictions and find environmental answers.

Nvidia is working with G42 in Abu Dhabi to build a climate technology lab. This is Nvidia’s first partnership with the best AI company in the United Arab Emirates.

This Friday, both companies said they would work on creating AI that can make weather predictions more accurate. They will use Earth-2 from Nvidia, which is an open tool that can predict the weather and climate.

The climate tech lab in Abu Dhabi will be a center for research and development, the statement said. It will help both companies fulfill their pledge to protecting the environment. It will also make it easier to make custom weather and climate systems that use more than 100 petabytes of geophysical data.

The chipmaker Nvidia is at the center of a spending boom in artificial intelligence. It has been speeding up the creation of new goods and growing its business. Since June, the business has said it will improve its AI platforms every year. It has plans for a new Blackwell line-up to come out around the end of the year and a next-generation platform called Rubin to be ready in 2026.

Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s CEO, has also pushed for the use of “digital twins,” or virtual copies of real things, in the Omniverse, the company’s online world. Earth-2 is a digital copy of Earth that is meant to show how useful the method could be by making it possible to model weather patterns more accurately and do other difficult jobs.

Huang said in the statement, “The Earth-2 climate tech lab will push environmental solutions using the most cutting edge AI and accelerated computing technology.”

G42’s Global Collaborations and Investments

G42 got a $1.5 billion investment from Microsoft earlier this year after making a deal with the US government in which the UAE-based company agreed not to work with China anymore. These companies said this week that they are opening two centers in Abu Dhabi to help make AI usage standards for the business world.

Together with Nvidia, the UAE is making a stronger case for becoming a Middle Eastern AI leader. It’s a part of Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s $1.5-trillion empire. He is one of Abu Dhabi’s deputy rulers, the UAE’s national security director, and the president’s brother.

Peng Xiao, CEO of G42, said that the relationship with Nvidia will make it possible to not only come up with new ideas but also find solutions to important problems facing the world.

Next week, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE will be in Washington, DC, to meet with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. A top Emirati official said that one of the main goals of his trip is to make relationships in AI and technology.
