Noded AI Puts Your Notes at the Heart of Your Workflow
Noded AI has launched with $4 million in funding. Its goal is to change the way people take notes by combining different work tools into a single process. This will get rid of the need to switch between tasks and boost productivity through AI and automation.
Let’s say that a lot of people take notes while working with customers as a starting point. As they take notes, they may need to look at a Salesforce customer record or open a Jira ticket to get IT involved with a customer issue.
They must do the dreaded task switching, which means leaving the app you’re working in to open a new one to do a different job or get more information.
Noded AI, a new company, aims to transform this situation by seamlessly integrating all your work tools into your note-taking process, eliminating the need for task switching. With an investment of $4 million, the company came out of stealth mode today.
“AI and a bit of automation data science are helping us reimagine the note-taking space,” stated Steve Wood, the CTO and co-founder of Noded. “Notes are now the heart of the enterprise.”
Noded isn’t just a clever play on words. The company sees notes not as a big document but as small pieces of information that fit together in a knowledge graph.
“Each piece of information in the note becomes a node on the graph,” he explained. “So if I were in a meeting with you, I could see all the tasks and context around you, and it would just filter through all of my notes from weeks, months, or whatever.”
Noded allows you to get all of the information you need without switching programs. Noded’s design ensures that you automatically access the apps you need while working.
“Instead of having all of your apps and notes in separate places, your notes will be part of the flow of your work, and Noded will help you get them into the right system as you type.” “So you don’t have to type twice all the time,” he said.
Wood previously held the position of Vice President of Product and Platform at Slack, another company that aimed to become the hub of work by utilizing chats instead of notes.
Wood says that while working on the Slack platform, he learned that it needed more background. He believes that the note metaphor provides the necessary background.
“One thing we learned from Slack is that we couldn’t do much more than send you alerts without knowing anything about the customer or the other business objects,” he explained. “This made your life more difficult because it was hard to keep track of.”
“What does that Zendesk ticket have to do with me?” Yeah, that’s because Acme asked about it. If we provide that background, it will be easier for you to do your work, and there will be a lot less noise.
AI Simplifies Administrative Tasks
We use artificial intelligence (AI) to pull work from notes and connect it to an app, but Wood says it doesn’t need to be very advanced for our needs. “The LLMs we have now work great for our needs,” he said. He said, “It’s kind of like having an administrator sitting there doing the boring work you don’t want to do.”
Chris Port is one of his co-founders and CEOs. He previously worked at Dell Boomi. Before Wood joined Slack in 2020, the two co-founders worked together at Boomi.
It’s still early. The business started up in September and got going after the new year. “This is going to be our ‘Hello World’ moment, where we tell everyone about the company,”
Port said. The new company is working with early adopters and plans to have a public beta sometime this year.
Boldstart Ventures oversaw a $4 million investment today. Bessemer Venture Partners, 20VC, and First Hand Ventures also put money in.
Stewart Butterfield and Cal Henderson, co-founders of Slack and Wood’s old bosses, and Frederic Kerrest, co-founder of Okta, also took part.
