As of now, Firefox has the same RTX Video improvements that Chrome and Edge users have had for a year. With the Firefox 126 update, you can get better RTX video, but you need an NVIDIA RTX GPU and a monitor or TV that is pretty good.

AI-Powered Video Enhancement

Multiple AI-powered technologies for improving videos are part of the RTX Video suite. Video Super Resolution and RTX Video HDR are the areas of focus here. HDR video is more colourful and contrasty than SDR video, and Video Super Resolution changes 1080p video to 4K video.

.Of course, these improvements will only help people who have a computer monitor that can handle 4K or HDR. NVIDIA says that even so, about 90% of online video is low-res SDR. The quality of videos you watch on YouTube and other sites will be much better if you can use the RTX Video improvements.

Optimizing RTX Video Experience

To be clear, RTX Video HDR only works in browsers. You can’t use it with the whole Windows operating system, and NVIDIA has a different set of technologies for gamers that improve video. VLC does, however, support NVIDIA Video Super Resolution right now, so it’s possible that it will get RTX Video HDR at some point.

In Firefox 126, zstd content encoding, AV1 hardware decode acceleration for the newest Macs, and a “Copy Without Site Tracking” option remove tracking data from URLs in your clipboard. This should make Facebook load faster. Some bugs and security issues have also been fixed, and Firefox has temporarily turned off URL Paste Suggestion while it looks into a performance issue. Visit the Mozilla website to see a full list of all the changes that have been made to Firefox 126.

Any RTX graphics card can be used with RTX Video HDR, but an RTX GPU from the 30 or 40 series is needed for NVIDIA’s Video Super Resolution. Turn on HDR in your Windows display settings, install Firefox version 126, and make sure you have the most up-to-date GeForce RTX Game Ready Driver. Next, open the NVIDIA Control Panel, click “RTX Video Enhancement,” “Adjust Video Image Settings,” and then “Super Resolution” and “High Dynamic Range.”
