Meta’s AI-Powered Ray-Ban Glasses Now Translate and Chat Instantly
Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses get new AI features, like the ability to translate languages and have conversations in real time.
Meta announced on Monday that its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses will get several new AI-powered features, such as the ability to have a conversation and translate between languages.
With the update on Monday, Meta was one of the first big tech companies to offer real-time AI video on smart glasses. People who own a Ray-Ban Meta and are in the early access program for the US and Canada can now download firmware v11, which, according to the company, adds “live AI.”
Firmware v11 also adds live translation, which lets people who wear Ray-Ban Meta translate speech between English and Spanish, French, or Italian in real time. The glasses have open-ear speakers that let the wearer hear what the other person is saying in one of those languages. They can also get a transcript on their paired phone.
Live AI, which debuted this fall, allows wearers to continue conversations with Meta’s AI assistant, Meta AI, to revisit previously discussed topics. Live AI can also handle video in real time. Individuals wearing these devices can ask questions about what they are currently seeing.
