Jony Ive, OpenAI’s Sam Altman Team Up to Design New Creative AI Device
Jony Ive and Sam Altman of OpenAI are working together on a new creative AI device that is based on the first iPhone.
Jony Ive, who used to be Apple’s Chief Design Officer, is said to be working on a creative AI device. Reports say that Ive is working on this new device with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI. The new device is said to be based on the original iPhone. Ive was in charge of the creation of the first iPhone, which came out in 2007. Ive’s company LoveFrom is said to be in charge of the new AI device’s looks.
Because generative AI is becoming more popular, many new gadgets have been released. New phones that say they are the future of smartphones, like the Rabbit R1 and Humane’s AI Pin, have come out but not made a big splash. But things might be different now that the person who made the first iPhone and the person who started the whole creative AI trend are working together.
According to the New York Times, Ive met Altman through Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky. Chesky was also one of the first clients of Ive’s LoveFrom business. We don’t know much about the project right now.
The report says that the project team is very small, with only ten people working on it. But on the short list are pros like Tang Tan and Evans Hankey, who both quit Apple last year. Tan and Hankey worked together to make the iPhone and other Apple products.
The NYT says that for now, all that is known is that the team is working on an AI device that will be less damaging to society than the current iPhone. The AI Pin and Rabbit R1 both used the same pitch, which is interesting.
Ive’s LoveFrom will be in charge of the device’s design style while the new team works on the technology. Also, the team is said to have rented a huge 32,000-square-foot office in San Francisco for $90 million, which is about Rs. 751.5 crore.
