How OpenAI’s Growth Fueled Microsoft’s $13 Billion Investment

OpenAI which was co-founded by Elon Musk and run by Sam Altman, become a huge AI force very quickly. According to reports, Microsoft spent $13B, which led to more growth.

OpenAI was started in 2015 by Elon Musk, Greg Brockman, Sam Altman, and other students, college professors, and business owners.

Sam Altman is still at OpenAI as CEO, and Brockman is still there as president. Musk quit in 2018. OpenAI said at the time that Musk quit to avoid a conflict of interest with Tesla, his other business, which was focussing more and more on AI. Since then, OpenAI has become one of the most important companies working on AI.

When OpenAI released ChatGPT in late 2022, a robot that can answer questions in a way that sounds like a person, it became very popular. The business also has tools that can turn words into images and videos. Reports say that OpenAI now makes $3.4 billion a year and has big names as users like Estée Lauder, Moderna, and PwC. About $13 billion has been put into the AI company by Microsoft.

Some experts and lawmakers are worried about the huge impact that AI companies and Big Tech could have on society and the strain that the technology could put on the power grid. This is because OpenAI has been so successful.
