Google Adds Personalized Ads to AI Mobile Overviews in the US Market

Google introduces ads in AI-generated overviews on mobile in the US, offering personalized product suggestions alongside answers with commercial intent.

Google has started putting ads in its AI-generated overviews, showing personalized product suggestions next to AI-generated answers to questions with a commercial intent. Google will only put this advertising feature on phones in the US when it goes live, following tests that went well since May.

Because users instructed them to, Google will now highlight cited webpages in its summaries. The goal is to encourage more people to visit these sources, making their content more accurate and showing ads. At the same time, businesses like Microsoft have added advertising to their AI systems.
