OpenAI has released the ChatGPT app for Mac, which works with Apple Silicon (M1) and macOS 14 . It has better voice support and multimodal GPT-4o speed.
One of the most exciting things that OpenAI said about GPT-4o was that its popular ChatGPT app would be coming to Mac. Now that the company has finally put out the app, many Mac users can get it. It’s been pretty quiet since then.
According to the website for the Mac app, ChatGPT lets you Chat about messages, screenshots, files, and anything on your screen. It’s important to know that the app can only be used on devices that have Apple Silicon (M1 or better) and macOS 14 or later. You won’t be able to use ChatGPT as an app if you have an older tablet or a later tablet with an Intel chip. You can still use the browser form of the AI to ask your important questions, though.
If you want to talk to your favourite AI, you should download the Mac app because it has the speech features that were shown in the GPT-4o example. Ryan Morrison, who is an AI expert at our company, tested both Google Gemini Live and ChatGPT Voice to see which could sound more realistic.
Morrison said that ChatGPT Voice sounds more realistic, can understand and react to your tone of voice and emotions, and can even change the way you ask it to speak in real time.
You can get the DMG file for ChatGPT on your Mac by going to OpenAI’s website and clicking on Download. Install it like any other app and test out ChatGPT on your Mac to see if it changes the way you work or just gives you something fun to do while you make interesting AI pictures.
