Firefox nightly adds the option to select your favorite AI chatbot
Mozilla adds a variety of AI services to Firefox Nightly, allowing users to pick their favorite chatbots to do tasks like summarizing webpages. This adds more flexibility to browsers that are increasingly relying on AI.
As more browsers add AI features, Mozilla wants to give users a choice. The company said on Tuesday that it will start an experiment where people can choose to use different AI services in Nightly, the experimental version of Firefox.
Before adding it to the beta and release versions of Firefox, the company wants to make the experience better.
People who have agreed to use AI services will be able to pick the one they like best. Some of Mozilla’s first products are ChatGPT, Google Gemini, HuggingChat, and Le Chat Mistral. The business wants to keep adding AI services.
In a blog post, Ian Carmichael, senior vice president of Firefox, said, “Giving people choices in AI services is important for many reasons.” Firstly, you should not be dependent on a single service provider.
You should be able to pick the one that works best for you. Second, developers are continuously refining and improving all these models.
They are all different and have their strengths and weaknesses. With multiple options, people can try different services to find the best fit.
Once users pick an AI service they like, they can ask the chatbot to summarise webpage information, make the language easier to understand, or test their knowledge on the topic.
AI chatbots revolutionize user experience
The new feature allows users to experiment with multiple chatbots and select their preferred one. Firefox says you choose, so you don’t have to.
At the same time that the new experience comes out, Google and Microsoft have added AI chatbots to their browsers.
New browsers like Opera and DuckDuckGo have also added AI chatbots that can help users do things like ask questions and summarize web pages.
