Ex-OpenAI Leader Mira Murati Targets $100M+ for Innovative AI Startup
Mira Murati, the former CTO of OpenAI, is seeking $100 million or more for a new AI startup developing innovative AI products, according to Reuters.
Reuters says that Mira Murati, the former CTO of OpenAI who quit last month, is seeking venture capital funding for a new AI company.
This startup is reportedly focusing on creating AI products using its models. This round could bring in more than $100 million.
After she left, Murati wrote on X that the latest releases from OpenAI had “fundamentally changed how AI systems learn and reason through complex problems.”
She said, “I’m taking a break because I want to make time and space for my exploration,” but she didn’t say more about her plans.
Murati’s Journey at OpenAI
In 2018, Murati became the VP of applied AI and partnerships at OpenAI. Before that, he worked at Tesla and Leap Motion. In 2022, she assumed the role of CTO, and in the brief period following the firing of co-founder and CEO Sam Altman, she assumed the role of interim CEO.
Several executives at OpenAI have recently quit. Shortly after Murati’s resignation, the company’s chief research officer and vice president announced their departure.
After a week, OpenAI announced that it had raised $6.6 billion in the biggest venture capital round ever.
