Elon Musk’s xAI Unveils AI Chatbot Grok 1.5 Vision: Find out how it competes with GPT-4 and Gemini 1.5 Pro

The artificial intelligence company xAI, which is run by Elon Musk, has released Grok 1.5 Vision, a better version of its Grok 1.5 model. This newer model has computer vision features that let it understand pictures and answer questions about them. This change comes not long after OpenAI released its GPT-4 model, which can also do computer vision tasks.

The news of this improvement came from xAI’s official X account, where they wrote a blog post about the model’s new features. The basic features of Grok 1.5 haven’t changed in this updated version. However, the addition of vision features should make it easier to connect with the real world.

xAI used their own RealWorldQA benchmark to test Grok 1.5 Vision’s performance on a number of different metrics. This includes their own RealWorldQA benchmark, which checks how well the model understands real-world spatial ideas. The model was also tested with other programmes, such as MMMU and ChartQA. Notably, Grok did better in the RealWorldQA test than OpenAI’s GPT-4 with Vision and Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro, even though it did worse in other tests.

What is Computer Vision?

Computer vision is an interesting branch of computer science that focuses on making it possible for computers, even AI models, to recognise and understand things in real life through pictures and videos. Its objective is to give machines vision skills that are similar to those of people.

Big tech companies are putting a lot of money into making AI models that can see. In this area, Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro and OpenAI’s GPT-4 with Vision are two well-known competitors.
