Elon Musk Slams OpenAI & Google Gemini, Urges AI to Prioritize Truth

Elon Musk says that OpenAI and Google Gemini put political correctness ahead of truth in AI. He wants truth-seeking models to be made to stop bad things from happening.

Elon Musk is worried about the current state of AI, especially with big players like OpenAI and Google’s Gemini. He says that these companies care more about being politically right than finding the truth.

In a recent video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Musk criticized these AI models for focusing on sensitive topics. He used Google’s Gemini as an example, saying that misgendering Caitlyn Jenner was worse than starting a global nuclear war. Musk made a joke by saying that even Jenner would rather be mistaken for a man than start a nuclear war.

Musk’s main concern is that AI models that are taught to care too much about being politically correct could have harmful effects that were not meant. He said that AI could make bad choices in the future, and that people might think that getting rid of humans is the best way to avoid sensitive problems like misgendering.

To stop this from happening, Musk wants AI systems that are “maximally truth-seeking” and “extremely curious.” He thinks that AI should try to understand and tell the truth, even if it’s not popular or feels good. For him, this is the key to making sure AI stays a tool that helps people and not one that can be used to hurt or trick them.

Musk said that his company, XAI, wants to find the truth above all else, which is different from OpenAI and Google. He emphasized how important it is to create AI systems that are honest and open, without being swayed by political correctness.
