Apple’s iOS Beta Adds AI Feature to Remove Objects from Photos Easily
Apple’s most recent developer betas for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1 include a new AI-powered “Clean Up” feature that allows users to easily remove objects from photos while seamlessly filling in the background.
In the most recent developer betas for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1, Apple has added even more AI features. This time, we can remove objects from photos.
Clean Up is the name of the feature that lets users find and get rid of things in photos without changing the rest of the picture. Smart detection lets users pick out an object and remove it with just one tap. You can also remove objects from the picture by drawing a circle or brushing over them.
Apple claims that the feature uses AI to create the background when you remove objects from a photo. According to Apple, the system is capable of detecting shadows or reflections and eliminates them when the background fills in.
Early this year, Google added a similar feature to Google Photos for free. It’s called the Magic Eraser. Between July and now, Apple has been testing its first set of Apple intelligence features slowly with the iOS 18.1 developer betas.
There are writing tools, list summaries for SMS and Mail notifications, natural language search in Photos, transcription for calls and voice recordings in Notes, and a smart replies feature in Mail. Only those who are in the United States and speak English can use Apple’s intelligence.
