Apple and Meta Discussing AI Integration
Apple is talking with Meta about adding Meta’s creative AI to its goods. This is part of Apple’s plan to improve its AI and keep up with Microsoft and Google.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that Apple is in talks with a major competitor, Meta, about adding the Facebook parent company’s creative AI to its products. This is part of Apple’s plan to catch up to its competitors in the field of AI.
The news comes after Apple made a deal with OpenAI, the company that made ChatGPT, to help add new AI features to its popular goods through its Apple Intelligence suite. Ever since Microsoft and Google released products so quickly, Apple has been under a lot of pressure to convince people that its AI plan is good.
The Journal said that Apple and Meta have talked about adding Meta’s own generative AI model to Apple Intelligence. The report mentioned sources close to the situation. The senior vice president of software engineering at Apple, Craig Federighi, said in early June that the company also wants to add features from Gemini, Google’s generative AI system, to its own products.
Apple’s AI Integration and User Safety
Analysts say Apple’s biggest challenge has been how to add ChatGPT-style AI to its products without compromising the safety and security of its users, which it takes very seriously. With Apple Intelligence, users will be able to make their own emojis based on a basic description or make short snippets of emails in their mailbox.
Apple also announced that Siri, its voice helper, will get an AI update. It will now show up as a pulsing light on the edge of your home screen. Siri, which came out more than 12 years ago, is now seen as an old feature that has been replaced by new helpers like OpenAI’s GPT-4o.
